Following a recent surge in terrorist attacks in Borno State, President Bola Tinubu has ordered all service chiefs to relocate to Maiduguri, the state capital, to coordinate a response. The directive comes in the wake of Monday’s bombings, which claimed at least 23 lives.

The President made the announcement in a statement he personally signed and released to reporters on Tuesday. According to reports, multiple suicide attacks by suspected Boko Haram members occurred across Borno on Monday, heightening concerns about security in the region.

In his statement, President Tinubu extended condolences to the people of Borno for the tragic loss of life and reassured Nigerians that the military is making progress in the fight against insurgency. He emphasized that the government remains committed to restoring peace and protecting citizens from terrorist threats.

The President also highlighted a security meeting held last week with leaders of intelligence and security agencies. During the meeting, he approved the deployment of additional equipment and operational support to enhance the effectiveness of security personnel. He noted that these measures are already being implemented.

“Additionally, I have directed security chiefs to move to Maiduguri to take charge of the situation. I have also directed emergency agencies to provide proper care for the injured,” Tinubu stated.

Analysts suggest that the President’s hands-on approach, including the deployment of top military officials to the affected region, signals a renewed focus on counter-insurgency efforts. The government’s prompt response aims not only to stabilize the security situation but also to reassure citizens that the federal authorities are fully engaged in protecting communities from terrorist threats.

The directive comes amid rising concerns over Boko Haram activities in northeastern Nigeria, which have continued to disrupt civilian life and pose a persistent threat to regional stability. President Tinubu’s move underscores the administration’s determination to confront insurgents decisively and strengthen national security infrastructure in vulnerable states.
