Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has officially commenced his second term in office following a swearing-in ceremony held at Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka. The event drew a large gathering of dignitaries, political figures, and traditional leaders from both within and outside the state.
Governor Soludo arrived at the venue at exactly 11:18 a.m., accompanied by prominent personalities including Vice President Kashim Shettima, and former Nigerian presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan. The ceremony also featured elder statesmen such as former Secretary General of the Commonwealth, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, and the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi.
At 11:50 a.m., Soludo took the oath of allegiance, immediately followed by the oath of office, a brief but formal procedure lasting approximately five minutes. Throughout the ceremony, he was supported by his wife, Dr. Nonye Soludo, who stood by his side during the administration of the oaths.
The Chief Judge of Anambra State supervised the oath-taking, and Governor Soludo promptly signed the documents at 11:55 a.m., receiving applause from attendees. This marks the official start of his second tenure, which is set to run until 2030.
The swearing-in ceremony is seen as a reaffirmation of Soludo’s leadership and his commitment to continuing developmental projects and governance reforms in Anambra State. Observers note that the presence of high-profile political figures and traditional leaders underscores the significance of the occasion and the influence of Anambra in national politics.
Governor Soludo’s second term is expected to focus on consolidating achievements from his first term, particularly in areas of economic development, infrastructure, education, and social welfare. The event also reflects the peaceful democratic transition in the state and the broader stability of governance in Nigeria.
