The National Youth Service Corps has cautioned corps members against negative use of social media, urging them to create content that positively reflects the scheme and the country.
The Director General of the NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, gave the warning on Friday while addressing the 2025 Batch C corps members at the NYSC Delta State Orientation Camp in Issele Uku.
According to a statement issued via the official X handle of the scheme, Nafiu warned that any negative social media posts by corps members would attract sanctions.
He also advised them to avoid unauthorised journeys and to adhere strictly to camp rules and regulations.
Nafiu urged the corps members to obey simple instructions, participate in biometric capture and Community Development Service activities and respect the cultural values of their host communities.
He warned them against misrepresenting the scheme at their places of primary assignment.
Earlier, the NYSC Delta State Coordinator, John Kwaghe, presented a camp situation report, stating that a total of 2,101 corps members, comprising 944 males and 1,157 females, had been deployed to the state.
He said camp activities were progressing smoothly with full participation of officials and corps members, who have so far demonstrated a high level of discipline.
The Director General also urged the corps members to imbibe the core values of the scheme throughout their service year and beyond.
He encouraged them to be patriotic and to allow integrity, efficiency, transparency and commitment guide their conduct.
