Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Shehu Dikko, has denied claims that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) or any Nigerian sports official collected the $1.2 million FIFA Goal Project fund meant for a mini-stadium in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Dikko clarified that FIFA managed the project directly, including fund disbursement, procurement, and contractor payments, while the NFF’s role was limited to providing the land and project specifications.
“Nobody collected the money … FIFA manages its projects directly,” Dikko said.
He explained that the project, approved in 2015, was executed under FIFA’s full supervision and followed due process.
The clarification follows public outrage over viral images of the facility’s incomplete state. Meanwhile, the House of Representatives Committee on Sports has launched an investigation into all FIFA and CAF grants received by the NFF.
