The Senior Pastor of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, Chris Okafor, has temporarily stepped aside from his pastoral duties following growing public backlash over multiple allegations of sexual misconduct.
The development comes days after the cleric publicly apologised to actress Doris Ogala during a church service, where he knelt at the altar, admitted to past “mistakes” and asked for forgiveness.
His decision also follows his wedding to a new bride, identified simply as Pearl, on 16 December 2025, an event attended by several prominent ministers. Ogala had earlier accused him of emotional manipulation, betrayal and breaking a long-term promise of marriage, allegations that went viral online.
Some members of Okafor’s church, however, dismissed the claims in interviews with Saturday PUNCH, insisting they were attempts by individuals seeking to extort money from their pastor.
As more women came forward on social media with separate accounts, senior figures within the Christian community were said to have advised Okafor to step aside in order to reduce public tension. A top official of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), who is familiar with the situation, confirmed the development.
