The Senate Committee on Army has extended its condolences to the Nigerian Army following the death of Brigadier General Oseni Braimah and several other soldiers who lost their lives in ongoing counter-insurgency operations across the country.

In a statement released on Saturday, the Chairman of the committee, Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’adua, expressed deep sorrow over the loss, describing the fallen officers as brave patriots who paid the ultimate price in service to the nation. He acknowledged the unwavering commitment, courage, and professionalism consistently demonstrated by Nigerian troops in the face of persistent security challenges.

Yar’adua reaffirmed the Senate’s commitment to supporting the military, assuring that the National Assembly would continue to provide the necessary legislative backing and funding required to strengthen the operational capacity of the Nigerian Army. According to him, sustained investment in personnel, equipment, and welfare remains critical to achieving lasting success in the fight against insurgency and other security threats.

He urged officers and men of the Nigerian Army not to be discouraged by the tragic loss of their colleagues, but instead remain resolute and focused on their mission to safeguard the nation’s territorial integrity. He emphasized that their sacrifices are not in vain and that the country holds them in the highest regard.

The committee also extended heartfelt sympathy to the families of the deceased soldiers, acknowledging the pain and loss they are enduring. It noted that the entire nation stands in solidarity with them during this difficult period and appreciates the sacrifices made by their loved ones in the line of duty.

“The nation respects and appreciates your service,” the statement read, highlighting the collective gratitude of Nigerians for the military’s continued efforts to ensure peace and security.

The committee further called for unity and sustained collaboration among all security agencies to effectively combat insurgency and restore lasting stability across affected regions.
