Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has called for stronger collaboration between the state government and security agencies in order to address rising concerns about criminal activities in parts of the state. Rivers authorities are working closely with national security institutions including the Nigeria Police Force NPF and other agencies responsible for maintaining law and order.

Speaking during a security meeting with senior officers, the governor stressed that effective policing requires continuous communication between government authorities and security operatives. He said coordinated intelligence sharing and rapid response mechanisms are essential to tackling crimes such as kidnapping, armed robbery and pipeline vandalism.

Governor Fubara emphasized that security remains a fundamental condition for economic development and social stability. Rivers State is a major hub for Nigeria oil and gas industry, making it critical to protect infrastructure and maintain a safe environment for businesses and communities.

Security officials present at the meeting highlighted ongoing efforts to strengthen surveillance operations and expand community policing initiatives. These strategies aim to improve early detection of threats and ensure that law enforcement agencies respond quickly to incidents.

Community leaders have also been encouraged to support security agencies by reporting suspicious activities and cooperating with investigations. Authorities believe that strong relationships between citizens and law enforcement personnel are essential for effective crime prevention.

Analysts note that insecurity challenges in the Niger Delta region are often linked to economic pressures, political tensions and organized criminal networks. Addressing these issues requires a comprehensive approach involving law enforcement, social programmes and economic opportunities for local communities.

The governor assured residents that the state administration would continue investing in security infrastructure, including patrol vehicles, communication equipment and operational support for security agencies. Such resources are intended to enhance the capacity of officers deployed across the state.

Observers say the call for deeper collaboration reflects growing recognition among state leaders that tackling insecurity requires joint action across multiple institutions. As authorities strengthen partnerships, the expectation is that coordinated strategies will help restore confidence and ensure a safer environment for residents and businesses.
