The General Overseer of Salvation Ministries, Pastor David Ibiyeomie, has described the prolonged political conflict between Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, as a spiritual issue beyond human resolution.
Speaking during a church service in Port Harcourt in a video that has since gone viral, Ibiyeomie stated that no individual, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has the capacity to resolve the crisis. According to the cleric, only divine intervention can bring an end to the political tension in Rivers State.
The pastor traced a historical pattern of leadership conflicts in the state, noting that successive governors have consistently fallen out with their political benefactors. He recalled that former governor Rufus Ada George was opposed by his successor, Peter Odili, whom he had supported. Odili later fell out with Chibuike Amaechi, whom he helped rise politically. Amaechi also had a major conflict with Wike, his former ally, while Wike is now embroiled in a dispute with Governor Fubara, whom he supported to power.
Ibiyeomie argued that the recurring nature of these conflicts shows that the problem is not political or administrative but spiritual. He further warned that even if Governor Fubara were to choose a successor today, the same pattern of conflict would likely repeat itself.
Emphasizing his position, the pastor said that various efforts had been made to resolve the crisis, including interventions at the highest level of government, but all had failed. He concluded that until God intervenes, the political crisis in Rivers State would remain unresolved.
