President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is scheduled to present the 2026 Appropriation Bill to the National Assembly on Friday during a joint sitting of the Senate and the House of Representatives.
The budget presentation is expected to outline the federal government’s economic direction for the coming year, with a strong emphasis on economic growth, fiscal discipline and macroeconomic stability.
According to government sources, priority areas in the 2026 budget will include infrastructure development, national security, education, healthcare and social welfare, as the administration seeks to consolidate ongoing reforms and address citizens’ welfare concerns.
Ahead of the presentation, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy is expected to brief lawmakers on the key assumptions, revenue projections and expenditure framework underpinning the budget.
The leadership of the National Assembly has confirmed its readiness for the session, assuring that necessary arrangements have been put in place for a smooth presentation and subsequent legislative consideration.
