The Force Public Relations Office (FPRO) head, ACP Benjamin Hundeyin, is set to vacate his office in Abuja on Friday, ending a five-month tenure widely credited with strengthening the police force’s public communication and digital engagement.
Vanguard gathered that a senior police officer has been pencilled in to replace him, though the identity of the incoming spokesperson had not been publicly disclosed as of press time.
Sources at the Force Headquarters confirmed that Hundeyin has been briefed on the transition and is preparing to hand over his strategic communication responsibilities. As of Thursday evening, he was still performing his duties, with an official announcement expected from the office of the Inspector-General of Police on Friday.
Hundeyin was appointed Force Public Relations Officer in September 2025 while holding the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP). He succeeded Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who had been promoted to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).
Prior to his role at the Force Headquarters, Hundeyin served as the Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command, where he became well-known for proactive media engagement and extensive use of digital platforms to communicate police activities.
Security analysts have noted that Hundeyin’s communication style and strong social media presence helped broaden the Force’s interaction with the public and reinforced the use of digital tools in policing communication.
Hundeyin holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Lagos State University and a master’s degree in Legal Criminology and Security Psychology from University of Ibadan.
