A senior police official has said the free medical outreach organized by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo Olu for police officers will significantly enhance the efficiency and wellbeing of security personnel. The Deputy Inspector General of Police commonly abbreviated as DIG and responsible for overseeing operations in Zone II of the Nigeria Police Force made the remarks while reacting to the initiative.
The Nigeria Police Force is the national law enforcement agency tasked with maintaining internal security and protecting lives and property across the country. Zone II of the force covers Lagos and Ogun states and plays a critical role in policing one of the most economically active regions in Nigeria.
According to the Deputy Inspector General of Police the free medical outreach will help address common health challenges faced by officers who often work under demanding conditions. Police officers frequently spend long hours on duty and are exposed to stressful environments that can affect both their physical and mental health.
The Lagos State government organized the medical outreach to provide free health screenings consultations and treatment services for officers and their families. Medical professionals involved in the exercise conducted routine checks including blood pressure monitoring eye examinations and other preventive health assessments.
Security experts say improved healthcare support for police personnel can directly influence operational performance and morale. Officers who have access to proper medical care are more likely to remain physically fit and capable of carrying out their duties effectively.
The Deputy Inspector General of Police also commended the Lagos State government for recognizing the sacrifices made by security personnel in maintaining peace and order. He emphasized that collaboration between government institutions and law enforcement agencies is essential for strengthening public safety.
Participants at the outreach expressed appreciation for the initiative noting that access to free healthcare services is a significant benefit for many officers and their families.
Observers say initiatives that support the welfare of security personnel can contribute to improved service delivery and stronger relationships between the police and the communities they serve.
