Operatives of the Yobe State Police Command have uncovered an inter-state criminal syndicate involved in burglary, theft, and the snatching of motorcycles across Yobe, Gombe, and Bauchi states.

The command said the breakthrough followed credible intelligence that led to a coordinated police operation, resulting in the arrest of a suspected member of the gang.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday.

According to him, the suspect, identified as Lukman Inusa, a 27-year-old resident of Potiskum Local Government Area of Yobe State, was apprehended on March 3, 2026, at about 11:00 a.m.

Abdulkarim explained that the arrest was carried out during a well-coordinated operation by police operatives who had been tracking the activities of the syndicate across multiple states.

He further revealed that during preliminary investigations, the suspect confessed to his involvement in the criminal activities and subsequently assisted investigators in recovering some of the stolen motorcycles.

“During preliminary investigation, the suspect confessed to the crime and led investigators to the recovery of five motorcycles out of about ten motorcycles he allegedly stole since the beginning of his criminal activities,” the police spokesperson said.

The police added that the recovered motorcycles are currently in their custody while efforts are ongoing to identify and contact their rightful owners.

Abdulkarim noted that the investigation has also been expanded to track down other members of the syndicate believed to be operating within and outside Yobe State.

He assured that security operatives are intensifying efforts to recover the remaining stolen motorcycles and bring all those involved in the criminal network to justice.

The police spokesperson reiterated the command’s zero tolerance for criminal activities, stressing that the command remains committed to dismantling criminal networks and ensuring the safety of residents.

He also urged members of the public to continue providing useful information that could assist security agencies in preventing crime and apprehending criminals across the state.

The command emphasized that sustained intelligence gathering and cooperation with communities remain key strategies in combating criminal activities in Yobe and neighboring states.
