The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has disclosed documents and electronic devices allegedly recovered from the Abuja residence of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai.
The commission made the disclosure in filings before the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Abuja while responding to a N1 billion fundamental rights enforcement suit instituted by El-Rufai against the ICPC and other parties.
According to the anti-graft agency, operatives recovered nine flash drives, one memory card, and seven hard drives during the search operation. The commission also listed a Remarkable tablet, along with its chargers, among the seized items.
The ICPC further stated that digital folders containing flight tickets were discovered across several of the devices retrieved. It maintained that all recovered materials were properly inventoried, sealed, and prepared for forensic examination as part of an ongoing investigation.
In addition to the storage devices, the commission disclosed that multiple laptops were taken from the residence. These included Apple MacBook Pro and Elumac Book Pro models. Several mobile phones were also recovered during the operation.
Among the phones listed were Blackberry devices, a Nokia N95, Toshiba-branded devices, Samsung IDEOS and Google IDEOS models, as well as 18 other unspecified mobile devices.
The ICPC emphasized that the items form part of materials relevant to its investigation and are undergoing forensic analysis in line with due process. The filings were submitted to counter El-Rufai’s claims that his fundamental rights were violated during the search and seizure exercise.
The matter is currently before the FCT High Court for determination.
