co-founder and former Chief Technology Officer, Ezra Olubi, has claimed he was unjustly terminated from the company following allegations of sexual misconduct that surfaced online. Olubi made the disclosure in a detailed blog post published on Sunday, November 23, 2025.
The controversy erupted in mid-November after a viral social media post accused him of abusive behaviour. The backlash intensified when critics circulated several explicit tweets he allegedly shared between 2009 and 2013, leading to heightened public scrutiny.
In response to the growing uproar, Paystack confirmed that it had suspended Olubi and launched a formal probe into the allegations. The company disclosed that it had activated a review mechanism and was in the process of selecting an independent investigator to assess the claims objectively.
However, Olubi insists the process was compromised. In his blog post titled “Terminated,” he stated that the company dismissed him before the investigation was concluded and without offering him an opportunity to defend himself.
“For days, my integrity and years of work at Paystack have been questioned due to claims circulating online,” he wrote, adding that the board had instructed him to step aside while the investigation proceeded. He noted that he chose to remain silent publicly to avoid influencing the process, believing it would be handled thoroughly and impartially.
According to Olubi, that expectation was not met, as he was ultimately relieved of his duties without a hearing or fair review.
