Lawrence Okolie delivered a commanding performance in Lagos, stopping Ebenezer Tetteh after just two rounds at the Onikan Stadium in Nigeria.
The heavyweight contest, scheduled for ten rounds and topping Sunday night’s DAZN card, came to an abrupt conclusion when Tetteh chose not to continue after the second round. Having absorbed sustained pressure, the Ghanaian declined to answer the bell for round three.
Okolie, a 2016 British Olympian, was in control from the outset. A sharp right hand late in the opening round visibly unsettled Tetteh, while the Londoner increased the tempo in the second. The decisive moment came when Okolie dropped his opponent with a right-left combination, the only knockdown of the fight. Tetteh’s body language suggested the bout was slipping away, and the contest ended shortly afterwards.
The victory marked Okolie’s fourth successive win since stepping up to heavyweight. The Hackney-born fighter improved his record to 23 wins from 24 bouts, with 17 coming by knockout, following his cruiserweight title defeat to Chris Billam-Smith in 2023.
For Tetteh, the defeat was his third in a row, taking his record to 23-4. Notably, all four of his career losses have come against British heavyweights.
Another Olympian also featured on the card, as France’s Tony Yoka continued his resurgence. Yoka claimed his fourth consecutive win by stopping Germany’s Patrick Korte in the opening round, ending the bout with a single, clean uppercut.
