The Benue State Government, under the leadership of Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has dismissed recent reports suggesting the existence of religious, ethnic, or genocide-related conflicts in the state, calling such claims inaccurate and misleading.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, officials emphasized that while the state faces security challenges like other regions in Nigeria, these are not driven by religious or ethnic hatred. Governor Alia reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to promoting peaceful coexistence among all communities.

The government urged the public and media to avoid spreading unverified information that could incite panic or communal tensions. It also reiterated ongoing efforts to strengthen security and protect lives and property across the state.

Governor Alia stressed that the people of Benue remain united and committed to dialogue and peaceful resolution of conflicts where they arise.
