Nigeria will face Algeria in the quarter finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations following Algeria’s narrow extra time victory over DR Congo in their round of 16 encounter on Tuesday in Rabat.
Algeria sealed the dramatic win with a late goal from substitute Anis Boulbina, who struck in the 119th minute with a powerful effort that found the top corner of the net.
The hard fought victory confirmed Algeria’s place in the last eight and set up a high profile quarter final clash against Nigeria.
The Super Eagles had earlier secured their spot in the quarter finals after an emphatic 4 0 win over Mozambique on Monday, producing one of their most convincing performances of the tournament.
Nigeria will now take on the North African giants on January 10 as they continue their campaign for a fourth Africa Cup of Nations title.
The encounter is expected to be one of the standout fixtures of the quarter final stage, given the pedigree and rivalry between both sides on the continental stage.
