Nigerian women footballers have made an impressive sweep across multiple categories in the final shortlist for the 2025 CAF Awards, set to take place on Wednesday in Rabat, Morocco. The ceremony is scheduled for 19:00 local time (18:00 GMT).

Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade headlines Nigeria’s representation as she competes for the Women’s Player of the Year crown. She will go head-to-head with Morocco international and Al Hilal midfielder Ghizlaine Chebbak, while AS FAR forward Sanaa Mssoudy completes the three-woman race for the top prize.

In the Goalkeeper of the Year category, Nigeria’s ever-reliable shot-stopper Chiamaka Nnadozie is in contention to secure the award for the third straight year. The Brighton goalkeeper, who won in 2023 and 2024, once again faces stiff competition from South Africa’s Andile Dlamini, Mamelodi Sundowns’ dependable No. 1 and a two-time CAF Women’s Champions League Best Goalkeeper winner. Morocco’s Khadija Er-Rmichi—a four-time Best Goalkeeper in the Moroccan Women’s Championship and standout at WAFCON 2022—completes the shortlist.

Rising star Shakirat Abidemi Moshood of Bayelsa Queens also earned recognition, making the final cut for the Women’s Young Player of the Year award. The Flamingos captain has built a reputation for outstanding maturity, leadership, and rapid progression.

The Super Falcons, fresh off securing their 10th WAFCON title in Morocco, are contenders for Women’s National Team of the Year. They face competition from Ghana and host nation Morocco.

Nigeria’s strong showing across the board underscores the country’s continued dominance and depth in women’s football on the continent.
