Fresh controversy has erupted around the death of late Nigerian singer Mohbad following new claims made by an individual identified as IJMohbad who says he has concluded a two year private investigation into the case. The statements which have circulated widely online have reopened emotional wounds and raised serious questions about unresolved issues surrounding the singer’s death family disputes and paternity claims.

According to IJMohbad he has closed his investigation after what he described as a very costly and frustrating process that he believes the police mishandled. He claims he is in the final stages of writing a book detailing his findings and revelations about the events that allegedly led to Mohbads death. Among the most shocking claims is the assertion that Wunmi Mohbads widow has reportedly given birth to another child while Mohbads body remains in the mortuary over 900 days after his death.

He further claimed that the identity of the child’s father is unknown and described the situation as deeply troubling considering that Mohbad has yet to receive a proper burial. The statement has drawn strong emotional reactions from the public with many questioning the prolonged delay in laying the late singer to rest and the toll it has taken on his family and fans.

IJMohbad also alleged that Ayobami Sodiq also known as Spending was arrested in November 2025 in connection with the case and identified him as the person who went to the pharmacy allegedly linked to events surrounding Mohbads final moments. He claimed that Spending has now agreed to undergo a DNA test with Mohbads son Liam a development that has further intensified public interest in the paternity controversy.

According to the claims the issue of paternity was a major factor in the conflict that allegedly led to Mohbads death. IJMohbad stated that disputes over the child’s paternity resulted in fights physical altercations and ultimately the injury that caused the singers death. He claimed to have raised the DNA issue as a possible motive just three days after Mohbads passing.

A particularly controversial aspect of the claims involves Wunmis alleged refusal to undergo a DNA test at the request of Mohbads father. IJMohbad alleged that she has consistently avoided such a test and questioned whether she would now agree to one involving Spending. These allegations have sparked heated debate with opinions sharply divided between those demanding full transparency and those urging caution against unverified claims.

IJMohbad also introduced the concept of telegony describing it as a situation where a child may resemble multiple partners a woman has had relations with even though DNA determines biological paternity. He emphasized that physical resemblance does not establish fatherhood and insisted that only DNA testing can provide definitive answers. This explanation has been met with skepticism by some experts and observers who caution against mixing scientific facts with controversial theories.

The resurfacing of these allegations has renewed calls for an independent transparent and conclusive investigation into Mohbads death. Fans and civil society groups continue to demand justice accountability and closure for the late artist whose death shocked the nation. As emotions remain high and claims continue to circulate many Nigerians are urging authorities to provide clear official updates to prevent misinformation and further distress.

Until verified facts are established the Mohbad case remains a painful reminder of unresolved justice prolonged grief and the dangers of speculation in sensitive matters involving death family and legacy.
