The Nigerian Air Force has recorded significant operational successes after a series of precision airstrikes destroyed terrorist hideouts in Katsina State and disrupted a coordinated attack by ISWAP and Boko Haram fighters in Chibok Local Government Area of Borno State.
The Director of Public Relations and Information of the Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja.
According to Ejodame, the operations were carried out under Operation FANSAN YAMMA and Operation HADIN KAI following intelligence led surveillance that enabled accurate targeting of terrorist movements across both theatres.
In Katsina State, NAF fighter aircraft conducted air interdictions on November 27 against the fortified camps of a notorious terror leader responsible for kidnappings, attacks and cattle rustling across Kankara, Faskari and Malumfashi areas. He said the first strike at about 6:30 a.m. destroyed critical structures and neutralised several fighters who attempted to flee.
A second strike later in the evening targeted another major hideout in Danfako area of Faskari Local Government, destroying logistics hubs and operational facilities used by the group. Several terrorists were reported killed during the operation.
In Borno State, NAF aircraft provided aerial support to troops of the 28 Task Force Brigade when insurgents launched a multi directional assault on Chibok. Four precision airstrikes were conducted on regrouping and retreating fighters, inflicting heavy casualties and preventing further advance.
Ejodame said the coordinated air and ground response prevented what could have been a major security setback, reaffirming the Air Force’s commitment to restoring peace nationwide.
