Morocco forward Soufiane Rahimi has admitted that his side face a tough task against Nigeria as they prepare for their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations semi-final clash.
Rahimi, who made history at the Paris Olympic Games by scoring in every match, spoke ahead of the showdown with the Super Eagles, describing Nigeria as one of the strongest teams in the tournament so far.
The attacker also reflected on his own AFCON journey, which began on a difficult note after he missed a penalty in Morocco’s opening loss to Comoros. Despite that early setback, he says he has stayed focused and determined as the competition has moved into its decisive stages.
Looking ahead to the semi-final, Rahimi said his mindset has remained steady, stressing that mental strength is crucial in big matches like this.
“The mentality never changes – it’s always the same,” Rahimi told reporters in Morocco. “Now I am on the right path. Everybody knows this game will be difficult, but God willing, we will win for the fans and for the people of Morocco.”
His comments showed both belief in his team and an awareness of the responsibility they carry as hosts, with home supporters expected to fill the stadium.
Nigeria go into the semi-final in excellent form, having won all their matches at AFCON 2025 so far. The Super Eagles will be aiming to keep that perfect record when they face Morocco on Wednesday night, with a place in the final on the line.
