A political support group, the Seyi Makinde Disciples, has called on allies of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to return to the mainstream leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) amid the party’s lingering internal crisis.

The convener of the group, Laja Adeoye, made the appeal on Thursday in Lagos while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria. He said the PDP leadership remains open to reconciliation and expressed confidence that the party’s internal disputes would soon be resolved.

Adeoye urged members of a factional caretaker committee reportedly backed by Wike to abandon the parallel structure and rejoin the party’s constitutionally recognised leadership.

The committee, led by Mohammed Abdurahman and Samuel Nwanyanwu, has been at the centre of the PDP’s ongoing leadership dispute.

According to Adeoye, the party remains a broad political platform capable of accommodating all members willing to work toward unity and progress.

He insisted that the caretaker committee being promoted by the Wike-aligned faction lacks legal and constitutional backing within the party’s structure. However, he emphasized that the PDP leadership is still willing to welcome back suspended national officers if they are ready to reconcile and cooperate with other stakeholders.

Adeoye said genuine reconciliation within the party would require a commitment from all sides to set aside differences and rebuild unity.

He also noted that a recent ruling by the Court of Appeal sitting in Ibadan had provided fresh encouragement for dialogue among party leaders.

According to him, the appellate court advised all parties involved in the dispute to accommodate one another and pursue peaceful resolution of the crisis.

Adeoye added that the court’s position effectively undermined certain actions taken by suspended members of the party’s National Working Committee, including the formation of the disputed caretaker committee.

He expressed optimism that ongoing reconciliation efforts would ultimately restore stability within the PDP and strengthen the party ahead of future political contests.
