Renowned Nigerian Fuji icon, Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as Kwam1 or K1 De Ultimate, has formally declared his interest in becoming the next Awujale of Ijebuland.
His intention was communicated in a letter dated 3 December 2025, addressed to the Fusengbuwa Ruling House. In the letter, Kwam1 stated that his aspiration complies with Ogun State chieftaincy laws and Ijebu customary practices.
The 68-year-old musician traced his eligibility to his royal ancestry through the Jadiara line of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House in Agunsebi Quarters. He also highlighted his five decades of cultural promotion through music as part of his contribution to Ijebu heritage.
“I, Otunba Wasiu Ayinde Adewale Olasunkanmi Omogbolahan Anifowoshe, MON, hereby notify the Fusengbuwa Ruling House of my intention to be considered for the vacant Awujale stool,” he wrote.
His declaration comes months after the passing of the former Awujale, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, who died in July 2025 at the age of 91 after a 64-year reign.
