Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has commended the Kano State Police Command for the swift arrest of suspects linked to the killing of a woman and her six children in Dorayi Quarters, describing the action as reassuring and commendable.
The governor gave the commendation in a statement issued on Sunday by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
Yusuf described the prompt response of the police as a strong demonstration of professionalism, courage and commitment to the protection of lives and property across the state.
He noted that the tragic incident, which threw residents into shock and mourning, was deeply disturbing, but said the speedy arrest of the suspects had helped to restore public confidence in the capacity of security agencies to respond decisively to crime.
The governor specifically praised the Commissioner of Police and officers involved in the operation for deploying intelligence driven methods that led to the successful tracking and arrest of the suspects.
According to him, such diligence and responsiveness must be sustained to discourage criminal activities and reassure law abiding citizens.
Yusuf reaffirmed his administration’s readiness to continue supporting the police and other security agencies through logistics, collaboration and policy backing to ensure that criminals have no safe haven in Kano State.
He also called on residents to support security agencies by providing timely and credible information, stressing that effective community cooperation remains vital to maintaining peace and security.
The governor further directed that the suspects be thoroughly investigated and prosecuted in accordance with the law to ensure justice for the victims and serve as a deterrent to others who may contemplate similar crimes.
