The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced official timelines for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry admissions while reaffirming strict enforcement of age eligibility requirements.
According to JAMB, registration and examination schedules have been structured to ensure smoother admission processes and reduce administrative bottlenecks. The board emphasized that candidates must meet all eligibility conditions before applying.
JAMB reiterated that candidates below the approved minimum age for tertiary education will not be admitted, regardless of their examination scores. The board stated that the policy is aimed at protecting students’ academic and emotional readiness for higher education.
Officials explained that while exceptional candidates may sit for examinations, admission decisions will strictly align with national education policy. Institutions were warned against bypassing the age requirement.
The board also announced improved monitoring mechanisms to prevent multiple registrations, identity fraud, and examination malpractice. JAMB said technology-driven verification systems will be fully deployed across examination centres.
Parents and guardians were advised to comply with guidelines rather than seeking shortcuts that could jeopardize their wards’ academic futures.
