The Israeli military has announced the arrest of a senior member of the Jamaa Islamiya group during an overnight operation in the Har Dov area.
In a statement posted on X on Monday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said the suspect was apprehended in a targeted, intelligence-led mission conducted by its troops. The operation, according to the military, was based on actionable intelligence.
The IDF disclosed that the individual was subsequently transferred to Israel for further interrogation. It also confirmed that weapons were recovered at the scene of the operation.
“APPREHENDED: A senior terrorist from the Jamaa Islamiya terrorist organization was apprehended overnight by IDF troops during a targeted intelligence-based operation in the Har Dov area,” the statement read.
“The terrorist was transferred for further questioning in Israel. Weapons were also located at the site.”
The Israeli military further alleged that Jamaa Islamiya has played an active role in attacks against Israel and civilians in the northern region since the outbreak of the ongoing conflict.
“Throughout the war, the Jamaa Islamiya terrorist organization advanced terror attacks against Israel and its civilians in the north,” the IDF added.
The development marks the latest in a series of security operations carried out by Israeli forces amid heightened tensions in the region.
