Iran’s Abbas Araghchi has warned that the ongoing conflict will have global repercussions, affecting all individuals regardless of race, religion, or economic status.
Speaking on Wednesday, Araghchi emphasised that the war’s consequences are only beginning to unfold and urged officials in Western countries to resist involvement in the conflict. “A wave of global consequences has only commenced and will affect all – irrespective of wealth, religion, or race,” he stated in a post on X.
His message included a copy of the resignation letter from Joe Kent, the outgoing director of the US National Counterterrorism Center, who stepped down on Tuesday. In the letter, Kent explained that he could not “in good conscience” support the ongoing war in Iran, arguing that “Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation.”
Araghchi further noted that a growing number of international figures, including European and US officials, have voiced opposition to the war, describing it as unjust. He urged more members of the global community to take similar stands to challenge the conflict.
The Iranian minister’s warning underscores the far-reaching implications of the hostilities, signalling that the effects of the war are likely to extend well beyond the immediate region.
