The Independent National Electoral Commission has announced that it has received 78,451 new applications in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration exercise in Plateau State.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mallam Mohammed Sadiq, disclosed this on Wednesday during a stakeholders’ engagement in Jos.

According to him, the online phase of the CVR exercise commenced on August 18, while physical registration began on August 25 across designated centres in the state.

Sadiq noted that the first phase of the exercise, which is scheduled to end on December 10, has so far attracted a significant number of new applicants.

“So far, we have recorded 78,451 new applicants. Out of this number, 25,290 have been physically captured and completed their registration, while 7,019 are yet to be captured. The remaining 44,142 are incidents,” he said.

He explained that the display of the preliminary voters register for claims and objections will begin on December 15 and end on December 21, adding that all complaints arising from the display will be addressed on December 21.

The REC further revealed that the second phase of the CVR exercise will resume on January 5, 2026.

Sadiq expressed concern over the 101,200 Permanent Voter Cards still uncollected in the state and urged eligible residents to visit INEC offices and designated collection points to claim their cards.

He also appealed to applicants who have not completed their biometric capture to do so before the December 10 deadline for the first phase.
