Indian law enforcement agencies have arrested a 29 year old Nigerian woman identified as Olajide Esther Iyanuoluwa over alleged involvement in drug trafficking after cocaine was reportedly discovered hidden inside loaves of bread.

The arrest took place following a coordinated intelligence operation by Indian narcotics officials who had received information about a suspected drug smuggling attempt aimed at bypassing airport and road security checks. According to authorities, the suspect allegedly concealed the illicit substance inside food items to avoid detection.

Officials stated that the cocaine was carefully packed and inserted into hollowed bread loaves, a method believed to be part of a growing trend among international drug trafficking networks seeking creative ways to transport narcotics across borders.

Olajide Esther Iyanuoluwa was reportedly taken into custody after surveillance led officers to intercept her movements. Upon inspection of her luggage, officers discovered the concealed substance, which later tested positive for cocaine.

Indian authorities have launched a full investigation to determine whether the suspect acted alone or as part of a larger trafficking syndicate. Law enforcement sources say efforts are ongoing to trace contacts and identify supply routes linked to the case.

The arrest has drawn attention to the involvement of foreign nationals in drug trafficking activities in India. Officials emphasized that the law will take its full course regardless of nationality and urged embassies to cooperate where necessary.

Meanwhile, members of the Nigerian community in India have expressed concern over the reputational impact of such incidents, calling for greater awareness and support systems for Nigerians living abroad.

Nigerian diplomatic officials are expected to monitor the case closely to ensure due process is followed. Legal experts note that drug trafficking convictions in India carry severe penalties, including lengthy prison sentences.

The case has once again highlighted the dangers of international drug crime and the severe consequences faced by those involved, regardless of the methods used.
