Nigerian music icon Innocent ‘2Baba’ Idibia has publicly spoken out against what he describes as a dangerous effort by some family members and associates to damage his reputation and portray him as mentally unstable.
In a video shared online, the veteran singer said the situation had escalated far beyond ordinary family disagreements, prompting him to break his silence.
“I’m okay. I’m perfectly normal. Please stop painting me as mentally unstable,”
he said emphatically.
“My Family Destroyed My Marriage with Annie”
2Baba alleged that the same interference he believes contributed to the breakdown of his marriage to Annie Idibia is now being directed at his current partner, Natasha, who he claims is facing death threats.
“My family destroyed my marriage with Annie. Now they are after Natasha,”
he stated.
“Natasha is getting death threats right now. This has gotten dangerously out of hand.”
He accused those presenting themselves as concerned relatives of endangering both him and Natasha:
“You say you’re trying to save me, but you’re killing me. You’re killing us.”
“I’m a Grown Man – Let Me Be”
2Baba insisted he is mentally sound and living his life normally. He pointed out that he had recently performed in Abuja and continues to appear in public, countering rumours about his wellbeing.
“Everybody has been seeing me out there. Anybody with eyes knows I’m okay.”
He described the alleged lies being circulated about him as devastating and increasingly dangerous:
“What my family is doing… fabricating so many lies… It has become so dangerous. It’s not funny anymore. I’m totally devastated.”
A Plea for Peace and Privacy
The award-winning musician appealed for the threats and interference to stop, urging his relatives and the public to respect his personal choices and private life.
“Please, just stay out of my private and personal life. Just let us be.”
He added that he intends to speak more openly in the coming days:
“I’m not going to be quiet anymore. In the next couple of days, I’m going to speak a whole lot of truth.”
