The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has ordered the redeployment of senior officers to strategic positions across the Nigeria Police Force to strengthen operational efficiency, enhance leadership capacity, and improve service delivery nationwide.
Announcing the postings on March 24, 2026, the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, stated that the move aligns with ongoing efforts to reinforce the Force’s structure and ensure the effective deployment of personnel across Commands, Formations, and Departments.
Several Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) were assigned to key departments at Force Headquarters and zonal commands. Notable postings include AIG Ado Emmanuel to Research and Planning, AIG Joseph Eribo to Armament, AIG Miller G. Dantawaye to Operations, AIG Henry Ifeanyi Uche to Training and Development, and AIG Olanrewaju Peter Ogunlowo to the Police Affairs Branch. AIG Dahiru Mohammed was posted to Zone 15, Maiduguri, while others such as AIG Dankombo F. Morris, AIG Bello Shehu, and AIG Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba were deployed to Zones 4, 14, and Legal Services respectively. AIG Ahmed Musa moved to Community Policing, AIG Olohundare Moshood Jimoh to Zone 2, Lagos, AIG Simeon U. Akpanudom to FCID Annex, Lagos, and AIG Haruna Olufemi to the Special Protection Unit in Abuja.
Commissioners of Police (CPs) were also reassigned to state commands and specialized units. Among these, CP Haruna Alaba Yahaya was posted to Jigawa State, CP Betty Enekpen Otimenyin to Welfare at Force Headquarters, CP Olugbenga Ayodeji Abimbola to Oyo State, and CP Yemi John Oyeniyi to Training and Staff Development. Other deployments covered Ekiti, Adamawa, FCT, Lagos, Taraba, Zamfara, Katsina, and Sokoto, with several officers assigned to INTERPOL, POLAC, SWAT, INEC, Special Fraud Unit, K9 Unit, and other key departments.
The IGP urged all officers to leverage their expertise in their new roles while maintaining professionalism, discipline, and dedication to service, emphasizing the importance of these redeployments in sustaining effective policing nationwide.
