Former federal lawmaker, Babafemi Ojudu, has commended the security situation in Taraba State, describing his recent visit as peaceful and reassuring despite prior warnings.
Ojudu made the remarks during a visit to Nwonyo Lake in Ibi Local Government Area, where the state government is collaborating with La Campagne Tropicana Beach Resort to develop an eco-tourism resort. He noted that he travelled across several towns and villages without encountering any security threats.
“On security issues in Taraba, I cannot see any threat. I have been moving from town to town, villages to villages, driving on the road with little or no security. The people are friendly and hardworking,” he said.
The former senator disclosed that before his trip, he had received warnings about possible dangers, including kidnapping and violence. However, he said those fears did not materialize during his stay.
“Before coming to Taraba, I was told to be careful that I could get kidnapped or killed. But I do not see any such threats here. The government is doing well in terms of security,” he added.
Ojudu encouraged Nigerians to visit the state, describing it as a serene and attractive destination with abundant natural resources and agricultural produce.
“I am urging all Nigerians to come to Taraba. It is a beautiful place. Come and enjoy the fruits and the environment,” he said.
Reflecting on a previous visit to the state in 1991, he noted that the level of development and improvements in infrastructure and governance are impressive, adding that the current administration appears to be making meaningful progress.
