The Senior Pastor of Harvesters International Christian Centre, Bolaji Idowu, has announced a financial support scheme for unemployed church workers, under which beneficiaries will receive N50,000 monthly for three months.
Idowu made the announcement during a church service on Sunday, explaining that the initiative is targeted at members who actively serve in the church but are currently without jobs.
According to him, the support is designed to help affected members stabilise financially while they seek new employment opportunities.
“All those that serve in church and are in between jobs, those who used to have a job but lost it, for the next three months, we will be giving you N50,000 every month to help you until you get another job,” the pastor said.
He explained that the scheme would cover leaders and workers serving in various capacities within the church, stressing that the responsibility of the church extends beyond spiritual support to practical care for members.
“One of the things the church should do is to be there for one another and help people stabilise,” he added.
Idowu urged eligible members to register with the church administration, noting that there would be no rigorous screening process because the church already knows those who serve faithfully.
The announcement was greeted with applause from congregants, many of whom described the gesture as timely amid current economic challenges.
