ABEOKUTA – In a move aimed at bolstering administrative efficiency at the local level, the Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, has presented brand-new 2025 Toyota Corolla Cross SUVs to the chairmen of the state’s 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs).
The official handover ceremony took place on Thursday in Abeokuta, coinciding with the festive Christmas period. The gesture was met with widespread appreciation from the local leaders, who described the vehicles as a significant boost to their operational capabilities.
Enhancing Grassroots Governance
Representing the Governor at the event, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat, explained that the provision of the vehicles was a strategic investment in governance.
According to the Commissioner, the primary objective is to ensure that the heads of the local councils are well-equipped to manage the affairs of their respective districts effectively.
“These vehicles have been provided to enhance the delivery of effective governance at the grassroots,” the Governor stated through his representative. “The council chairmen have proven to be invaluable partners in ensuring that the dividends of democracy reach every corner of the state.”
A Commitment to Development
Governor Abiodun further pledged that his administration would maintain its supportive stance towards local government authorities. He emphasised that the synergy between the state and local tiers of government remains vital for the continued socio-economic growth of Ogun State.
The presentation of the high-end SUVs marks a continued trend of state-level support for local administrators, ensuring they have the mobility required to oversee community projects and respond to the needs of their constituents.
