Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has relieved the state’s Head of Service, Alhaji Abdullahi Musa, of his appointment with immediate effect.

The announcement was made in a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature, who confirmed that the decision takes effect immediately.

According to the statement, the move forms part of the administration’s ongoing efforts to reposition the Kano State civil service for greater efficiency, discipline, and improved service delivery across government institutions.

Governor Yusuf directed the outgoing Head of Service to hand over the affairs of the office to the Permanent Secretary, Administration and General Services at the Cabinet Office, Hajiya Bilkisu Shehu Maimota. She has been appointed to serve in an acting capacity pending the appointment of a substantive Head of Service.

The governor stated that the transition should be completed by Wednesday, March 11, 2026, to ensure continuity in the administration of the state’s civil service operations.

While announcing the decision, Governor Yusuf expressed appreciation to the outgoing Head of Service for his service to the state and acknowledged his contributions during his tenure.

The statement noted that the administration values Musa’s dedication to duty and the role he played while leading the state’s civil service.

“We wish him the best in his future endeavours and pray for his continued success in all aspects of life,” the statement read.

It further emphasized that Hajiya Bilkisu Shehu Maimota, who currently serves as the Permanent Secretary in charge of Administration and General Services at the Cabinet Office, will oversee the responsibilities of the office in an acting capacity until a substantive appointment is made.

The governor also instructed that all official responsibilities and documents of the office be formally transferred to the acting Head of Service without delay to ensure a smooth transition.

The development marks a new administrative adjustment within the Kano State civil service as the government continues its reforms aimed at strengthening governance and improving the efficiency of public institutions across the state.
