Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has cautioned individuals he described as conflict merchants and political opportunists against exploiting insecurity and spreading rumours capable of deepening tension in the state.

The warning followed the recent abduction of more than 170 church members in the Kajuru axis of the state.

Governor Sani gave the caution during a visit to Kurmin Wali community in Kajuru Local Government Area, where he went to obtain first hand information on the incident and engage with affected residents.

He expressed concern that the activities of rumour mongers have, in recent times, undermined unity, weakened public trust and emboldened criminal elements across the state.

In a statement shared on his verified social media page, the governor disclosed that he had formally briefed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the security situation and held strategic engagements with the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, and the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (retd).

According to him, assurances were given that all necessary measures are being deployed to ensure the safe release of the abducted persons.

Governor Sani also revealed that he had advocated the establishment of a permanent military base in Kurmin Wali to strengthen security in the community and surrounding areas.

He commended residents of the affected community for their resilience, restraint and continued confidence in government despite the distressing situation.

Reaffirming the unity of Kaduna State beyond ethnic and religious lines, the governor said his administration remains committed to peace, security and inclusive development.

He added that construction of a link road and a healthcare centre in the area would soon commence to improve access and enhance the wellbeing of the people.
