Galatasaray have reportedly placed an €80 million release clause on Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen amid growing interest from Spanish giants Barcelona.
Osimhen, regarded as one of Europe’s most prolific forwards, has continued to attract attention following his impressive performances for the Turkish Super Lig champions. The Super Eagles striker has scored 15 goals and registered one assist in 21 appearances across all competitions this season.
He has also been influential in Europe, netting six goals in the UEFA Champions League for Galatasaray, further enhancing his reputation on the continental stage.
The 27-year-old joined Galatasaray last summer in a club-record €75 million transfer. Despite arriving only recently, reports suggest the club could be open to negotiations should Barcelona trigger the €80 million clause.
According to Turkish outlet Haberlisin, Barcelona are actively exploring options to strengthen their attacking line and have identified Osimhen as a prime target. The Catalan side are reportedly planning for the long term as they search for a successor to veteran striker Robert Lewandowski.
Barcelona are said to rate Osimhen highly due to his pace, physical presence, pressing ability, and proven goal-scoring consistency at both club and international levels. His profile is viewed as fitting the club’s tactical evolution under their current project.
While no formal bid has been confirmed, speculation continues to mount as the transfer window approaches. Galatasaray’s €80 million valuation signals their intent to protect their investment while acknowledging the striker’s market demand.
Osimhen remains a key figure for both club and country, and any potential move would represent one of the most significant transfers involving a Nigerian player in recent years.
