Nollywood actor and comedian Francis Odega has revealed that popular Nigerian rapper Olamide once paid him in dollars to use one of his famous catchphrases in a hit song.
Speaking about the viral moment, Odega explained that Olamide personally contacted him to request permission to use his well-known expressions, including “Gerara here” and “You don’t know nothing.” These phrases later appeared in a track by Lil Kesh.
According to the actor, he immediately agreed to the request after the rapper offered to compensate him for the voice line.
“Olamide called me and paid me in dollars to use my voice and line ‘Gerara here’ and ‘You don’t know nothing’ in Lil Kesh’s song,” Odega said.
The actor added that the moment helped boost the popularity of the phrase, which had already become widely recognised from one of his comedic film scenes.
Odega’s catchphrases went viral across Nigerian pop culture, with many fans and content creators adopting the lines in memes, skits, and everyday conversation.
