Arsenal winger Noni Madueke says he is eagerly looking forward to this weekend’s Premier League clash against his former club Chelsea, describing the meeting as a showdown between “two top teams.”
Madueke, who joined Arsenal after progressing through Chelsea’s academy, spoke to TNT Sports following the Gunners’ 3–1 win over Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
The victory keeps Arsenal at the top of the group with 15 points and continues their excellent start to the season.
The England international came off the bench and latched onto Riccardo Calafiori’s pass in the 69th minute to restore Arsenal’s lead.
Asked about returning to face Chelsea, he replied, “I can’t wait! You go eight weeks without the thing you love the most in the world, so you are chomping at the bit just to be on the pitch.”
With Arsenal sitting first and Chelsea second ahead of the much-anticipated fixture, Madueke said the encounter is shaping up to be one of the standout matches of the season.
“First versus second, they’ve got a top team, we’re a top team, so it’s going to be a good game,” he added.
Chelsea are also in impressive form, having defeated Barcelona 3–0 in the Champions League on Tuesday.
That result followed a 2–0 league win over Burnley.
