Arsenal made history on Sunday after defeating Chelsea 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium in a Premier League clash, setting three notable records in the process.
The Gunners secured victory thanks to goals from William Saliba and Jurrien Timber. According to OptaJoe, the match marked the ninth time this season that Arsenal have scored a match-winning goal from a corner — the most ever by any team in a single Premier League campaign. This surpasses Manchester United’s previous record of eight in the 2012-13 season.
In addition, Arsenal’s 16 goals from corners this season equal the joint-most in a single Premier League campaign, alongside Oldham Athletic in 1992-93, West Bromwich Albion in 2016-17, and Arsenal themselves in 2023-24.
Finally, the victory against Chelsea means Arsenal have gone 1-0 up from a corner on nine occasions this season, matching the joint record held by Southampton in 1994-95.
Arsenal will next face Brighton & Hove Albion in a Premier League fixture on Wednesday, seeking to continue their impressive form.
