Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have recorded fresh operational successes in Borno State, with 11 terrorist fighters surrendering, eight others killed, and two logistics suppliers arrested during sustained military offensives across the state.

According to a statement issued on Sunday by the Joint Task Force in the North East, the surrendered fighters laid down their arms following intensified pressure mounted by troops under ongoing clearance and fighting patrol operations. The militants reportedly surrendered with their rifles and assorted ammunition after being overwhelmed by sustained military action.

The operations, conducted under the ongoing Desert Sanity V campaign, focused on key terrorist routes and enclaves. On January 10, troops operating along the Azir–Wajiroko axis forced the surrender of the fighters, while continued ground offensives disrupted insurgent movements and supply lines.

A day earlier, soldiers carried out extensive clearance operations within the Bulaagalda cluster, targeting several known terrorist camps and hideouts. Locations affected included Dagumba, Bonne, Yaganari, Gosuri and Umchile, which were identified as long standing operational bases for insurgent elements. During the operation, troops destroyed multiple enclaves, dismantled logistics structures and recovered weapons, magazines and terrorist insignia.

Further offensives in the Yale and Bula Gaida areas also yielded results, as fleeing terrorists abandoned logistics facilities and weapons. Troops recovered ammunition and a general purpose machine gun during the operations.

The military said the latest gains reflect the sustained pressure being applied on insurgent groups operating in the North East, noting that continued offensive actions are aimed at degrading their combat capability, disrupting supply networks and restoring security to affected communities.

The Joint Task Force reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining momentum against terrorist groups until lasting peace is achieved in the region.
