The Dangote Group has reaffirmed its commitment to industrial growth and support for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) during its participation at the Enugu International Trade Fair. The company highlighted the strategic role of polypropylene in driving local production and alleviating challenges faced by MSMEs.
Polypropylene, according to Dangote Group officials, has diverse industrial and commercial applications. It is widely used in packaging, including containers, bottles, and food packaging, owing to its lightweight and moisture-resistant properties. In the textile industry, polypropylene is utilized in the production of fibers, ropes, fabrics, carpets, and upholstery. Ensuring its availability locally, the company noted, will help reduce operational bottlenecks and enhance productivity for MSMEs across the country.
Speaking at the event, Dangote Group representative Jinadu emphasized the importance of local production and industrial self-reliance in Nigeria’s economic transformation. “We are expanding our capacity because we are convinced that Nigeria’s economic transformation must be anchored in local production and industrial self-reliance. Dangote Group is proud to be a key private sector driver translating these ideas into tangible economic results,” he stated. Jinadu also encouraged stakeholders to explore partnership opportunities with Dangote’s various business units at the fair.
The President of the Enugu Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ECCIMA), Nnanyelugo Onyemelukwe, commended the Group’s contribution to the domestic economy. He highlighted Dangote Group’s expansive presence across nearly every sector of the Nigerian economy and its continued growth across Africa. “It is obvious that Dangote Group has added a lot of value to the growth of the Nigerian economy, operating in almost every sector of the economy and still expanding and going strong. The trend of Dangote’s business and entrepreneurial involvement has spread to many parts of the African continent, employing thousands of people worldwide, of whom not less than 85 per cent are Nigerians. Indeed, Dangote Group is the pride of Nigeria and Africa at large,” he said.
Onyemelukwe further noted that the Group’s achievements are rooted in vision, creativity, research, innovation, and unwavering diligence, all of which have contributed to the establishment of the Dangote business and industrial empire. “The exploits of the Dangote Group show great depth and a high degree of vision, creative thinking, research, innovation, doggedness, and hard work and industry, which have come to be related to what one can describe as the Dangote business and industrial empire today,” he added.
