The Taraba State Command of the Federal Fire Service has successfully extinguished a fire outbreak at Kukunba Farm located at ATC in Jalingo, preventing what officials described as potentially extensive damage.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Sylvanus Mikailu, the incident occurred at about 11:00 a.m. A distress call was reportedly received through the Acting State Controller, ACF Yakubu Samson Dungus, alerting the Service to the emergency.
A firefighting team led by ASF II Mu’azu Bako Danburam was immediately deployed to the scene. The crew acted swiftly to contain and extinguish the blaze, successfully bringing the situation under control before it could escalate.
Officials said the prompt response and professional handling of the incident prevented the destruction of property worth millions of naira. No casualties were recorded during the operation.
The statement further disclosed that the fire appliance, driven by ASF II Edwin Macah, returned to the station at approximately 2:35 p.m. following the successful operation. No complaints were reported after the response.
The Acting State Controller, Yakubu Samson Dungus, reiterated his appeal to residents to strictly adhere to fire safety measures. He also urged members of the public to promptly alert the Fire Service in the event of any fire emergency to ensure timely intervention.
Although the cause of the inferno had not been determined at the time of reporting, residents in the area confirmed that the rapid intervention of the firefighters prevented the situation from causing severe havoc.
The incident underscores the importance of early emergency reporting and coordinated response efforts in mitigating fire-related disasters across the state.
