In a statement on their official website, the League One club announced that Goodman, who has committed his international future to Canada, will spend the rest of the 2025–2026 season with The Reds.
The former England youth international spent the first half of the campaign on loan at Huddersfield Town, where he recorded four clean sheets in 12 appearances across all competitions.
Goodman enjoyed a superb 2024–2025 season with AFC Wimbledon, playing 53 matches and keeping 25 clean sheets. His performances earned him a place in the League Two Team of the Season as well as the Golden Glove award, after Wimbledon secured promotion through the play-offs with a 1–0 win over Walsall at Wembley.
Speaking after completing his move, Goodman said:
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to be here, and I just want to show everyone what I can do and give my best every single day.”
At Barnsley, Goodman will team up with former Golden Eaglets and Flying Eagles captain Kelechi Nwakali. The Reds currently sit 17th in the League One table after 21 matches.
Nwakali was part of Nigeria’s squad at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, playing a role in the Super Eagles’ perfect group-stage run. He came off the bench against Egypt and Sudan before starting in the final group game against Guinea-Bissau.
