Businesswoman Tracynither Nicolas Ohiri has intensified her public and legal confrontation with Nigeria’s Minister of Works, David Umahi, by releasing chats, videos, and detailed statements to support her claim that he owes her ₦250 million.
Ohiri alleges that the debt dates back to 2014 and is linked to promotional materials she supplied during Umahi’s governorship campaign. According to her, the items included customized exercise books and table clocks bearing his image. Visuals of these materials were featured in the clips she shared online as part of what she described as documentary evidence of the transaction.
In addition to the financial claim, Ohiri accused the minister of making unwanted sexual advances when she sought payment for the supplies. She further alleged that after she persisted in demanding the outstanding sum, Umahi blocked her phone number and ceased communication. In one widely circulated video, she recounted a conversation in which he allegedly told her, “God is busy,” when she appealed for the release of her money.
The dispute escalated beyond social media when Ohiri was reportedly arrested in Lagos on allegations of cyberbullying. She was subsequently flown to Abuja and detained at the Federal Capital Territory Police Command. Legal proceedings followed, with her arraignment on defamation charges at the Wuse Magistrate Court in Abuja, where she was granted bail.
The case drew additional public attention after activist Omoyele Sowore intervened. Sowore documented a confrontation with Umahi at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, capturing part of the encounter on video. He later shared footage of the incident on his X account, stating that the exchange occurred inside a conference hall within the premises. Sowore also played a role in facilitating Ohiri’s bail.
The unfolding dispute has generated widespread reactions online and in political circles, as both the financial allegations and the circumstances surrounding Ohiri’s arrest continue to spark debate.
