The Oyo State Government has clarified the status of federal funds allocated for victims of the Bodija explosion revealing that thirty billion naira already released remains unspent while an additional twenty billion naira is yet to be disbursed.

According to state officials the delay in spending is deliberate and aimed at ensuring transparency accountability and accurate compensation. Verification of affected properties victims and structural assessments are ongoing to prevent errors and misuse of funds.

The government stated that lessons from past disaster interventions informed the cautious approach. Officials emphasised that compensation must reflect actual losses and rebuilding must meet safety standards to prevent future tragedies.

Victims have been assured that the funds are secure and will be released once verification processes are completed. The state also appealed to the federal government to release the outstanding balance to accelerate recovery efforts.

The Bodija explosion which caused widespread destruction and loss of lives remains one of the most devastating urban disasters in recent times. Authorities pledged continued support to affected residents and reiterated commitment to rebuilding stronger safer communities.
