Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of renowned Islamic scholar, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, who passed away on Thursday at the age of 102.
In a condolence message issued by his media aide, Mukhtar Gidado, Governor Mohammed, on behalf of his family, the state government, and the people of Bauchi, extended heartfelt sympathies to the late cleric’s immediate family. He also commiserated with Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi’s followers, students, and the broader Muslim Ummah in Nigeria and beyond.
“It is with deep sorrow and a profound sense of loss that the Bauchi State Government announces the death of renowned and revered Islamic scholar, teacher, and spiritual leader, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, who returned to his Creator in the early hours of today, Thursday, 27th November 2025, at the age of 102 in Bauchi,” the statement read.
Governor Mohammed described the late cleric as a towering figure in Islamic scholarship, noting his deep faith, humility, and wisdom. He highlighted Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi’s lifelong dedication to the propagation of Islam, the teaching of the Holy Qur’an, and the moral and spiritual upliftment of humanity.
The governor prayed for Allah’s mercy upon the deceased and urged the people of Bauchi and followers of Islam to draw inspiration from his life of piety and devotion. Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi’s passing marks the end of a remarkable life devoted to religious scholarship and service, leaving a lasting legacy in the spiritual and educational life of Nigeria’s Muslim community.
