The Fusengbuwa Ruling House of Ijebu Ode has formally dismissed the lineage claim submitted by Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, popularly known as KWAM1, declaring his application for the Awujale stool “null, void, and of no consequence.”
In a letter dated December 11 and addressed to the musician, the ruling house said its investigations found no evidence linking Ayinde to the Jadiara Royal House or the wider Fusengbuwa lineage expected to produce the next Awujale of Ijebu land.
Signed by the chairman of the ruling house, Otunba Lateef Owoyemi, the statement faulted the certification of the form submitted by Ayinde. It noted that the document was endorsed by Adetayo Abayomi Oduneye, described as “a purported family unit head” who the ruling house insisted is not a recognised member of the Jadiara Royal House.
The ruling house also queried the timeline of events, stating that Oduneye certified the form on December 8, two days before Ayinde signed it. The panel described the document as “presigned.”
“Our extensive investigation has not revealed any proof of your membership of the Jadiara Royal House or indeed that of Fusengbuwa Ruling House,” the statement read. It added that Oduneye had “no locus standi” to certify lineage documents on behalf of the family.
“Consequently, the completed linkage lineage form is hereby declared null, void and of no consequence,” it added, stressing that Ayinde’s claim to Fusengbuwa membership had been rejected.
The development comes amid heightened interest in the selection of a new Awujale following the death of Oba Sikiru Adetona in July after a 65-year reign. Earlier on Thursday, multiple ruling house members publicly disowned the musician, insisting he was neither known to the family nor eligible to join the contest.
Ayinde had submitted his lineage documents after receiving a five-day extension beyond the December 5 deadline. His move surprised many within Ijebu Ode, given his long association with the Fidipote Ruling House, through which he currently holds the title of Olori Omooba of Ijebuland.
The form submitted by Ayinde claimed descent from the Setejoye unit of the Jadiara Royal House through his father, Adisa Adesanya Anifowoshe, and was countersigned by Oduneye. But several family heads from the Jadiara and Bubiade units had already denied any genealogical link to the musician or his father.
The Fusengbuwa Ruling House met in an emergency session on Thursday to address the submission and the controversies that have followed.
