The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has tendered fresh bank records in court as it continues prosecution in the alleged one hundred and ten point four billion naira fraud case involving former Kogi State governor Yahaya Bello and several co defendants.

At the latest hearing, EFCC prosecutors presented financial documents said to show complex fund movements across multiple accounts linked to the accused. The commission alleges that the funds were diverted from state resources through shell companies and proxy accounts for personal and political use.

Defence lawyers have dismissed the evidence as circumstantial, insisting that their clients will be vindicated at the end of the trial. They argue that many of the transactions cited were legitimate government expenditures approved through due process.

Legal analysts say the case is a major test for Nigeria’s anti corruption drive, particularly as it involves a high profile political figure. They note that the outcome could shape public confidence in the justice system and set a precedent for future prosecutions of public office holders accused of financial misconduct.
