The comedian was a guest on a recent episode of the Sunrise Show on Channels Television, where he discussed the undervaluation of the Nigerian creative industry by the government and the need for its development. He emphasized that the creative industry is the second-largest employer of labor after agriculture and the next largest employer of youth in Nigeria. He also mentioned that the industry requires development, support, and structure.
During the 2022 Nigerian Economic Summit Group, he highlighted the neglect of the creative industry in discussions about the Nigerian economy. He mentioned that two years ago, the Nigerian Economic Summit Group produced a 200-page booklet forecasting the Nigerian economy for the next five years, but the entertainment and creative industries were not considered.
He pointed out that the creative industry’s value extends beyond Nigeria and emphasized that musicians like Burna Boy have contributed more to its recognition than the government. He stressed that Nigerian artists are creating national awareness and making other countries more aware of Nigeria than any ambassador could have done.
